«The Little Shield Maiden
The Vikings rowed ashore, and marched to the nearest village,
They sailed this way for slaves, and to plunder, and to pillage.
In the midst of all the bloody carnage, there stood a little girl,
She was defiant in her manner, the younger daughter of the Earl.
She knelt behind her father's shield, for which she could not raise,
And stood proudly with sword in hand, with her village all ablaze.
The little shield maiden had no mail, nor helmet for her head,
Yet there she stood defiantly, among the dying and the dead.
The invading King, with sword in hand, stood before the child,
His eyes were crazed with blood lust , his manner was so wild.
She did not shake, nor did she cry, but stood there to defend,
Even as the king raised his sword, the maiden would not bend.
The King just stood there stunned, and ordered his men to halt,
So impressed was the mighty Viking, he called off his assault.
He reached over her father's shield, and picked her up in his arm,
I will adopt this little maiden, and do this village no more harm.»

Heya! So... one more look! I kinda wanted to do this for a long time but I did not have the (little) amount of money *poor* But yesterday I finally got the skin I wanted and ta-da.
As for the poem, days ago I was searching on the internet for shieldmaidens and I found it. That inspired me to do this look a little bit more norn-ish since the norns are our fictional vikings of GW2,..
Here we have the little shieldmaiden all grown up and ready to kick some ass. Hope you like it! ^^'

sevencat Trendspotter | Thank you! ^^ Yeah, I had that idea too. A shieldmaiden has to have a shield, right? Then I did a little searching and the definition is: «A shieldmaiden (Old Norse: skjaldmær, Danish: skjoldmø, Norwegian: skjoldmøy, Swedish: sköldmö, German: Schildmaid) in Scandinavian folklore and mythology was a woman who had chosen to fight as a warrior.» So I really don't know if she has to have a shield or not. Though I like the name because of Vikings, the TV Show (Lagertha rules!). Thank you for your insight though! :D |

 Elessar Taralom Fashionista | I love the soft dyes you chose here, really well done! The wolfs on shoulders and pants match up nicely and give her a very Nornish feel While the armour mix doesn´t feel SUPER original (but I think basically nothing with a prominent T3 part does), it definitely looks pretty and you chose very nice surrounding pieces to compliment your look Your screens are definitely well done, but I think you could still improve on them a little; a lot of the poses and locations are quite similar; try around with more differents weapons and skills! Plus it´s always nice to tie in her background story a little more, so for a shieldmaiden I´d imagine very traditional Norn locations to work well to really sell the overall concept Just want to push you a little in the right direction, still a gold from me ^^ |
