Le GARGOUILLE*

__________*The name gargoyle originally comes from the French gargouille.
______________________________Gargoyles originally had the task of directing water away from the house wall in an arc after a downpour to keep the façade dry. According to tradition, the first gargoyles existed several centuries before Christ - it all began with a tube made of clay. Over the years and centuries, the appearance of the gargoyles changed and they were constantly given new facial features from the animal world.
Especially in the Romanesque and Gothic periods, but also in the Renaissance, gargoyles were used with a symbolic meaning. They symbolise the influence of the devil on the earthly world, which contrasts with the purity of the heavenly realm. Probably the oldest examples of gargoyles were created at Laon Cathedral around 1220, followed by the gargoyles of Notre Dame in Paris in the late 13th century. From the 13th century onwards, the bizarre forms of the early and high Gothic gargoyles were increasingly replaced by human-like figures, which also lost their sinister expression over time. In the 15th century, amusing facial expressions were increasingly used again.

I had the idea of the stone gargoyle for a long time. And back then I tried experimenting with Box o' Fun. With a petrification effect that freezes the figures in place. Unfortunately, it didn't work the way I wanted it to. It worked much better with Deldrimor Stoneskin Infusion.
Since I mostly play WvW, inspiration for this look came from the Glowing Camp on the Fire Tower in the Red Desert Borderlands, on the west side of the map. It is surrounded by three fire shrines...and Gargoyles.
The gargoyles are usually magical creatures that are stone statues during the day, come to life at sunset and turn back to stone at sunrise (when a gargoyle then wakes up at night, it turns back into flesh and blood from the inside, causing a thin layer of stone to cover the gargoyle and break it). And most (but not all) of them have wings. I didn't use wings because this back item isn't petrified by the infusion effect.
The gargoyles are placed in front of the house or in the garden, facing the visitors, with the building to be protected behind them. This is what my gargoyle looks like, as if it had broken off its wings when it woke up at night and only burning stumps remained.
