As with most of my characters, Dorian Eir Xalec is nearly ten years old and a result of many tries, errors and redesigns.

When I had the first idea of him, his name was Dex, planed to be a mage/warrior hybrid. He had a skinny apperance with a golden Staff, walking in a deserted large area of a ruined old kingdom. The next try was a character with an even more fragile appearance, hidden behind a heavy bulky armor with nearly zero defensive stats. Created to mock overpowered players, daring them for a single attack to simply pulverize them with damage reflection. During the hard creation process of that character, I decided to change the appearance to the looks of a jester. Red/golden robe with with a sword and a doll in his hands. (original game: Lineage II)

Years later, in another game, I decided to recreate Dex. He was wearing red robes, used to be a mage/warrior hybrid and relied on illusions and deception. I created him to be very sarcastic, evil but on the other hand always looking like a troll. He relied on weapons, which just did not suit to his class or his fraction. One of my favourite companions with him was a Kaleesh named Xalec. Very dark, very strong. Both together made every battle ridiculous and every victory just a part of a big joke. (original game: Star Wars: The old Republic)

Then I got Guildwars 2. I've created at least 15 mesmers, but never leveled one beyond level 30. I traveled Tyria from north to south, did not care much about level restrictions or death count. Did a lot of Jumping Puzzles and helped people struggling with them. Learned a lot about using illusions to survive odds against my favor. Being surrounded by enemies four times my level with the ability to 1shot me in half a second. It was a very funny experience, but there was a problem. Some people complained "Doing a Jumping Puzzle with an Asura is Easy-Mode - you noob!"

I wanted to prove them wrong and I wanted to recreate Dex once again. So I decided him to be a mesmer this time. It is the best combination of a mage/warrior hybrid with illusions and deception-skills. So I went to the character creation screen and created the biggest, fattest charr-mesmer possible.

DEX - Dorian is a reference to Oscar Wilde's masterpiece "The picture of Dorian Gray." Eir was originally Heir. As he is a descendant of a descendant of a very old dream. But due to the letter issue, I had to stick to Eir. At least both words sound the same. Xalec is the reference to my old compainon.

The appearance also was a huge process. I started him as a regular mage in blue armor, later changed to feathered armor, added ascalonian robe skins to create the robe of a king - red and gold already. But I've scrapped that look and went for a black-motorcycle-gang outfit, mostly created with ascalonian robe parts and my mesmer-starter-mask. Wherever I stept, people just laughed about his appearance.

Then i got that mask. And all of my old designs came into my head. So I wanted to make a fun-char out of him. A true mystical red dragon, as from a chinese parade. I experimented with green colors as well, but I came back to my old kings-robe and adjusted a few parts to fit with the mask. The weapons suit good and many people tell me it IS a dragon and not a charr. In fact I'm added to some friendlists simply with the nick "Dragon." - sry for the long text
