I never played The Witcher 2, but a cutscene with a character named Letho caught my attention during the earliest days of GW2's betas and launch. I was intrigued by the idea of an assassin that was bulky. I also knew that I wanted to roll one of every profession. From there, the choice to make my Thief a Norn seemed natural.
I felt like a pirate theme would be appropriate, but also going with Norn's culture of shamanism and nature, a shark would be even more appropriate. The actual name "Meyer" was chosen for Meyer Lansky-- not a particularly shark-like gangster, but the name flowed well with "the Shark" so it stuck.
The hair and face paint, and facial hair choices are meant to reflect a shark breaching the water's surface, with fin, "water," and teeth appropriately. The scarred eye just makes sense because come on.
After playing the character for a long enough period, I often got flak for not having the legendary spear. So I had to get it, and then, I had to get shark rank in PVP, because also, come on.
The armor is Arah chest and mask, Tier 3 Medium shoulders, and Krytan gloves, pants, and boots, to create a scavenger hard ass look with lots of bones and spikes. Rox's Quiver also just made sense for the color scheme and general viciousness of the look.
For weaponry, I immediately fell in love with the Seathunder Pistol skin because it's a damn fish pistol. Nobody really uses this skin in my experience, or at least, not with a complete look like this. I felt it was a match made in heaven. The shortbow is the Pirate skin, also not commonly used. If that's what a mermaid looks like, I'm staying home. Daggers (and sword, not featured) are Godskull, to match the bone look of the Arah/Krytan armors.
Dyes are a combination of midnight ice, charred, cinders, and midnight blue, to give a deep worn leather and bone look.
I've always been very happy with how this character turned out. It might be my favorite in any MMORPG I've ever played.
