_______________________Happy New Year!
A new year dawns on Kryta and its citizens! All Tyrians are invited to Divinity's Reach for festival activities, traditional celebrations, and cheer to start the year off in good spirits.
Participate in firecracker lighting, enjoy a new festival race, compete in the Dragon Ball arena, and earn festive envelopes containing a variety of prizes. All proceeds from festival goods will be donated to support citizens displaced by recent events.
May you and your loved ones find good fortune in this year and in years to come!

According to Chinese mythology, the monster Nianshou lives in the sea or in the mountains. After its hibernation, around the time of the Chinese New Year, it comes out of hiding to eat people - and especially children. However, the beast is afraid of the colour red and loud noises. That's why people set off fireworks and firecrackers and decorate everything in shades of red during the traditional "guonian" (banishing the monster of the year).
In the Chinese calendar, the years are not numbered consecutively. Instead, each new year is under the sign of a different animal. These animals are rat, buffalo, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig - and after twelve years it starts all over again. In addition, each animal is assigned an element from the five element teachings of wood, fire, earth, metal or water. The Year of the Water Tiger began on 1 February 2022.
______________________ Why is the cat not a Chinese zodiac sign?
According to legend, there were originally 13 zodiac signs, and the cat was one of them. Depending on the source, Buddha or the Jade Emperor Yu Di invited all the animals of the zodiac signs to a festival, where each animal was given a year, which was henceforth named after it. However, since the rat told the cat that the festival would take place one day later, the cat overslept and went away empty-handed.

In East and Southeast Asian cultures, a red envelope, red packet or red pocket is a monetary gift given during holidays or for special occasions such as a wedding, a graduation, or the birth of a baby. Although the red envelope was popularised by Chinese traditions, other cultures also share similar traditional customs. The red packet is also called “money warding off old age” for Chinese New Year.
First originating in China, these customs have also been adopted across parts of East and Southeast Asia, and other countries that have a sizable ethnic Chinese population around the world. This custom is also practiced by many non-Chinese Asians in these regions due to Chinese cultural influence.

Although the Lunar New Year has already passed, I only now have time to show my character.
I created an outfit with Lucky Great Tiger Lantern back. A norn with a canthan hairstyle. An armour mix inspired by Jade Brotherhood from GW1 (https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Jade_Brotherhood_Mage)

I hope you like my canthan norn!
