I got the whole idea by doing a challenge with a friend: Who would forge his legendary sword first? Me as Geal finishing Twilight first or him as Gwyn finishing Sunrise.

The red-hooded, wandering slave knight Gael sought the blood of the dark soul as pigment for the Painted World. But Gael knew he was no Champion, that the dark soul would likely ruin him and that he had little hope of a safe return...Gael wakes up sweaty, he understands quickly ... for a dream that was too real. He realized his future mistakes and decided to extract the Dark soul into an object.
Gael's story begins long before the great fall of the world ... in Tyria.
Gael broke up quickly to find a vessel that can carry the Dark soul and not as in his vision to sacrifice himself and to fail.
Gael roamed many countries in search of a mighty vessel and met a master weaponsmith, he helped him with a recipe.
He forged this weapon but the recipe is still too immature. So the Weapon broke very fast. So, Gael moved on to develop the recipe and met a Charr investigating the dwarven ruins of bygone eras and making interesting discoveries that could help Gael....Mithril.
Gael thinks Mithril is the key to a powerful vessel... The Weapon did not break but was still too weak for the Dark soul.
Gael moved on until he found the ruins of Orr ... Destroyed and full of undead, Gael found there a very old inscription over the Rare resource Obsidian.
A mighty ore that the Orrians used centuries ago to forge mighty vessels, that was Geal's chance to complete the recipe.
So Gael created the powerful weapon Dawn, which is powerful enough to absorb the Dark soul and change his vision.
Subsequently, Gael set out to collect the Dark soul, killing countless people and absorbing their blood without sacrifice themselves.
