It's a look that offers a distinguished silhouette by visually diminishing the characters height via use of the grenth hood.
This is one of my three main characters for whom I've written the outline of a personal story. In short,

Syng Luna has traveled with a group of renegade Sylvari guerrilla fighters for a very long time, accumulating a patchwork~y, "rotten algae" look to his outfit and adopting the name of "Dreadguard" for his role in one of the worst massacres among the Nightmare Court in the time since the sylvari emerged.
The memory of what he has seen and done that day never leaves his mind. One of the deepest scars he bears is the memory of a young Sylvari awakening from his pod and - upon seeing Luna for the first time - cowering in fear before him. The experience of the massacre had seeped into the Dream and Syng Luna has felt ashamed of himself ever since. The name "Dreadguard" he keeps as a grim reminder of his miserable deeds.
