Corruption of an Illusionist

The tragic tale of Kagami begins with an investigation. As an officer in Lion's Arch Mage Investigative Agency (LAMIA) she received a major requisition for a search detail. The nature of the request cast an omminous shadow.

"Research and report about sightings of a large beast terrorizing Blazeridge Steppes"

The reports piled in from all corners of Blazeridge Steppes. All claimed the same; a dark crystalline dragon was destroying the valley. Reports about this monster were cause for alarm, nothing like this had ever been observed in the east before.

Kagami took a small crew of 6 detectives and a few local mercenaries for security detail to investigate the reports. Upon arriving at their destination, the damage was far worse than they could have imagined. A massive scar of crystallized destruction stretched the entire valley. Creatures caught in the path were now twisted shadows of their former selves. As they fought to move closer to research and gather samples, an ear piercing roar rolled across the mountains. In a panic, the investigative team started to leave the valley, but their path was already blocked by the monster.

The massive dragon, known as the Shatterer, had blocked the primary means of escape. The assault was vicious and blindingly quick. The security detail had been rendered into a pile of bent metal and flesh with a single swipe of its tail. Desperate to find a different way out and fleeing for her life, Kagami had split away from the rest of her crew. The dragon flapped it's wings, sending crystalline rain in all directions. An outcropping of the scarred earth protected her from the attack. Surveying the valley around her, she found her crew had not made it to safety. Their lifeless bodies impaled upon the earth dredged up a primal fear within Kagami. She let out a terrorized screamed, attracting the attention of the dragon.

Eyeing a small crag in the wall, she broke out into a maddening sprint, hoping, praying, begging to survive. Proving to be a futile attempt the dragon maneuvered to head her off. It waited until she was within an arms reach of her escape, and sprung a surprising trap.

The dragon encased Kagami in a crystalline prison. Frozen, Kagami could not move, nor comprehend what happened. A distraction drew the dragon away, leaving her encased in prison of misery. With no witness left to tell the tale Kagami was presumed missing or dead.

Beyond the gaze of all and forgotten by the dragon she remained a prisoner, frozen in time. Decades passed, until a fateful day. A massive assault by the combined Tyrian forces to fell the dragon for good. In the melee of battle a wayward mortar shell landed near Kagami’s prison. The blast broke crystalline cocoon into shards freeing Kagami.

Her body bore the visage of a tortured prisoner. Traces of the unnatural prison fused with her armor. Her skin was darkened from the corruption that engulfed her. Under the surface laid a scarred and broken mind. Now lost to time, she wanders Blazeridge Steppes, mourning the loss of her crew, seeking revenge against the dead dragon who stole her life from her.
