Pale Reaver

Xenshi is a junior officer in the Vigil who focuses is on hit and run tactics. While many of the Order's rangers fulfill this function Xenshi uses his abilities as a guardian to hit Vigil targets harder than the average ranger might. These hit and run tactics were all developed with one purpose in mind, kill dragons. Thus when Trahearne made his call for Sylvari to form an elite unit called the Pale Reavers Xenshi was one of the first to sign on.

This is my newest toon and I wanted to create a Pale Reaver look for some time. I first dabbled with the idea of mixing and matching various Sylvari plant armors together to create a look but eventually moved away from that, though I did still keep some of them. Since he was Vigil the Vigil top made perfect sense and then the Braham's leggings just came together. I swapped out a lot of glove pieces and even had a hard time choosing between Elonian or Spearmarshal gloves with the Spearmarshal gloves eventually winning out. I did keep some of my original concepts though with the shoulders and helmet being from the Arborist set, the boots being from the Warden set, and the weapons being from the Warden set. Though for the helmet I almost went with the Splint helm for its simplicity and the Vigil helm for its flamboyance.

Color wise I knew I wanted something new that I don't work with often and that I don't see often, either on here or in game. Purple is something you rarely see and that's a shame as it's a great color. I also like its ties to being a color to denote nobility and power. When placed against the browns in both his skin tone and the outfit I feel that the purple really comes alive. Also, in regards to doing new things I made him bald. I don't see very many bald Sylvari so I figure that would also set him apart.

When I thought about taking my screenshots I had actually envisioned a much larger group of pics that stretched from Orr all the way to Pale Reaver action in the Maguuma Jungle. However, once I started taking my screens I realized that doing just Orr would be more than enough in regards to changing terrain. I did opt though to include pictures of underwater combat. That's another thing we don't see a lot of.
