This is a depiction of a character from a book that I'm working on.
A short summary:
Remici is a talented chaotic mage following the jester/trickster archetype.
More in-depth:
This is a depiction of him after an apocalyptic event, he is even more chaotic than his usual self.
His broken mask symbolizes his broken mind and his fall from 'godhood' - which he would call it, as he considers himself godlike.
This is(below) a piece from his background story that I just started working on (the book has several pov's). It is before the apocalyptic event.
...
Cled in elegant cloths, with a mask hiding his face, he wandered in from what would become modern day Gristania to the Grand Palace of Celik'har offering his services to the Emperor.
After a heated discussion the Emperor had him thrown out from the palace.
In the streets of Celik'har he channeled his magic unprovoked, one after one they fell to the ground.
"Fifty!" Remici announced loudly as he sat down and began meditating around the bodies, screams in the background.
Guards were storming in to the scene.
The trickster let them chain him, taking delight in their fear.
They lead him to the throne room.
He broke free of the chains elegantly with his magic and bowed playfully to the Emperor as the guards were readying their pikes.
"Hold!" the Emperor commanded "Leave us!"
Remici waved at the guards provocatively as they reluctantly left the room.
“I may have underestimated your value when we first spoke” the Emperor stood up from his throne.
“Now, tell me! Who exactly are you?”
“Dear Grand Emperor! “ Remici began. “WHO... I am matters not”
...
Notes
In the universe of the book, he would not have 'wings', they are there to make him stand out more in game.
I'm not 100% on the boots.
The background story is still in its very early days - I just wanted something to give an idea of who he is.
That you dislike my photos is valid criticism, but you are basically saying that a good painting is bad because it happens to depict LA which you do not like.
That thought process is highly irrational.
Tipcat, let me begin by saying, I think what Mithras (not trying to defend him) was trying to say was, this site is about presenting not only your creation, but the beauty of the game. To capture few photos in environment your story depicts would really help the exposition you were going for. It's not really amusing if you post pictures from frequently visited areas, just like Fractals of the Mists or LA. I don't really care, but I always appreciate creativity in choosing right environment for your theme.
Sooo, the outfit. I must admit, the main picture really caught my eye. Maybe 'cause I'm a sucker for masks and mysterious things. It really fits the theme and I can see, that even in your desription, you admit that the Mask symbolizes a shift in his personality (in terms of his "chaotic"-ness, as you said). I don't really know what anything in your story means, but it's good as it is. You can maybe work, as I forementioned above, on screenshots and different techniques of taking them by adjusting different zoom settings for example. You will learn it from experience and as you explore the world of Tyria, you will see shitload of awesome looking Vistas and areas that are sometimes breathtaking to say the least. I really like everything, even the mursaat wings. It plays into the mysteriousness of your character very well.
I think I have went for way too long, anyway, let's get to the voting. In my experience, I prefer to grade you according the quality of your Story, Outfit and Screenshots. I believe you have potential to get better and you really deserve Gold if you manage to keep the level of detail in your work (don't forget to improve on your screenshot taking skills!).
So yeah... TAKE THIS GOLD AND GET OUT YOU COOL LOOKING MYSTERIOUS DEMIGOD WITH TOTALLY BADASS MASK I DIG SO MUCH!
I do agree that LA is overused, I do not agree that the fractal lobby is part of LA..
There is also thought behind the photos in the fractal lobby.
I wanted something that resembled the stereotypical heaven (the character being a god/demi-god)
I am happy that you left a comment.
It just seems absurd that you would rate it bronze with the prime motivation being that the presentation was done in LA.
That just feels personal to me and or abuse of the voting system, as your vote likely didn't include any thought about the other categories.
If you advocate being lazy while giving criticism/your opinion you are being very disrespectful, this is what I thought of your comment and why I felt offended.
