My main (yet not the first character I've uploaded onto here!), Despada, has always been one of those characters whose appearance I can never get right. He's an ex-Warden who decided to take action against the dragons after initiating his wild hunt to defend the Grove from all dangers. As such, I wanted to keep the plant aesthetics that are typical of sylvari who have lived all their lives in the Grove. Still, he's fighting dragons and their spawn, so I wanted something a bit more solid, but would compliment the plant life he'll still using as protection.

In comes the Phalanx Warplate, a chest piece that only adds a small portion of metal to the character. I dyed the cloth a green similar to the plant material so as to insinuate that he had tightly woven the metal chest plate onto himself. I'm hoping that that is conveyed properly. Again, this idea of metal meets flora was really hard to get right for the longest time. By the way, I added the boots and helm to even out the metal materials, and grey tones, so as to not keep it centralized on a single piece. As for rest of the colors, I wanted to try and mix things up a bit.

When most people think of guardians, they think about blue cloth and even blue tinted metals. I wanted to try to keep this notion while still branching out (sorry, couldn't help myself!) to more natural plant tones. Despada is of the Cycle of Dusk, meaning his aesthetics would typically fall in line to what you would see during the autumn season. Still, he's a guardian, so he should still embody some manner of life. I kept his skin bark-like in color and appearance, but I threw a ton of green to show that there's still a lot of growth surround him due to his innate healing abilities. Since he's also a guardian I kept the glow effects on his armor and body blue as a node to that fact.
All in all, I have to say that I'm very very pleased with how he's finally turned out!

I'm not 100% sold on his boots, but I can always hold on to the ones I have now.

I'm a huge fan of this. Somehow you've managed to make metal stuff look natural on a sylvari, it is brilliant :D Boots are tough, I thought about it but I can't think of anything that would work better, I like that they bring a touch more metal to the outfit.

I really like the combination of plant and non-plant armor. It's a great mix. I do wish you'd used a darker blue though, I just think it would look a bit more natural. But, nice job. :)

All has allready been said. Wonderful fusion between vegetal and steel.
You did well, the blue glow is enough to say "I am a guardian", no need to be all blue, especially in your case ! :)

My Sylvari gurls would ask your Sylvari man-candy out on a date and fight over it. Have my gold vote.

Really well-done, in both back story and armor integration.

I was directed here from your recent Mordrem update, and I think I might prefer this one even more! You've done a wonderful job mixing and matching with both sets! Another Gold for you!
