This is my first post on Gw2Style, and I need your help.
This Sylvari Guardian is my first and most played character. I'm a pretty casual player, so I'd like to advises on skins and dyes.
Thanks!

It would be good to know what you want help with.
Armor? Colours? THEME?
Which pieces/colours do you like? What do you want to keep? Which weapons would you like to use etc...
"skins and dyes" is a bit generic ^^ ... i assume noone would create a complete new style from scratch here :P

As it is now, it looks quite messy. The armor and the dyes arent matching very well.
The metal on your gloves, chest andd boots do match eachothers tone, but the greyish hues of the metalparts of the shoulders and legs look kinda out of place.
Try to stick to the materials of the armor for each colour you use. E.g.: white for metal, blue for fabric, grey for details.
Of course thats only a rough guideline to dyes. Not every armor-piece will offer you those segmentation. So in the end you will have to puzzle anyway ;)
For armor-pieces, try to stick to a theme, even if its as simple as "spikes". Also you should have an eye on the general style of your outfit. Is it full armor? Skimpy? Symmetrical/Asymmetrical? Ornaments or simple? Sleek or bulky? etc.
In this manner, the shoulders look a bit off to me since they are the only asymmetrical piece you used. Also the helmet looks off stylewise. All your pieces have spikes, while the helmet has a rather simple, plated style.
The legpiece would also not fit that "spikey" theme.

I hope i was a bit useful ... let me know if you decided for a theme or further characteristics to create the look on ;)

First of all, thanks for the answer :)

I read what you said and I have some things that I like and I'd like to keep (keep style, can switch particular skin):
1. I like this chest armor because it gives the illusion of a "big chest guy" and as a guardian I think that's important.
2. The pants are cool because it has that skirt/cape at the back, but that's not a must thing.
3. The shoulders were chosen because they look good to me and give broad shoulders illusion (kinda an addition to 1)

Now about the dyes, I tried matching dyes before and just couldn't match anything colorful... I do want some blue-tinted / blue armor because it matches the sylvari color and overall guardian skills.
I'm pretty bad dye picking and in addition I have very little dyes.

One more thing, even if I say I like certain piece of armor doesn't say that its irreplaceable
I hope you got the general picture :)

Oh and I forgot to write this, I'm running a sword+shield and a longbow. Sword and shield are blue and longbow still haven't decided :)

OK.
I tried a little around, keeping your 3 favorite pieces and added some cheap/ easy-obtainable pieces and dyes: http://imgur.com/x5wCar7
The colours would still need a bit fine-tuning since i only threw this together in the preview-window.
The added armor-pieces are: Veil Piercer (head, revenant standard-piece from char-creation), Heavy Glacial Gauntlets (meta achievement from new map) and Arborist Boots (syvlari cultural t1).
The dyes are Blue Tint, Old Jeans, Celestial, Celestial (in preview).
With the glacial gauntlets it would be some sort of icy themed look, keeping the blue and the pieces you liked.
The weapons from the Honor of the Waves dungeon would fit nicely then ...
But this is just some quick stuff i threw together, as stated. Maybe it helps you a bit or inspires you to create sth ;)

Thanks a lot :)
I actually played around with the shoulders and helm, and I found another shoulders that match pretty nicely.
I'll take your advice on all the rest but the veil piercer because my sylvary has a mushroom head (since the name) and it doesn't really work here.

Any idea on another pants/chest/pants and chest combo? Anything you think might work here

Which shoulders/helmet are you using now then?

I chose not to change the helmet after all, but the shoulders I'm thinking about are worn chain or fanatics mantle (because of the broad shoulders effect and I don't have a lot of skins).

So, i dont know what you wanna do for skins and which ones you have ... i created the comb that i liked best with the Fanatics Mantle, since it looks much better with the helmet than the Worn Chain Mantle imo!

The left version i like best, then descending to the right.
The chestpiece is the Glorious Breastplate. If you dont have, but like it, you can just do one pvp-reward track from the Glorious track. If you dont want to do that or dont like it, id recommend the Heavy Plate Chestguard instead (which i didnt show in the screens).
The gloves and legpiece are from the Arborist set. Their glowing effects go very well together with the glowing symbols of the shoulder piece!!!
Now the boots.
The very left ones are the Heritage Boots. You can only get them via the Hall of Monuments if you played GW1 and did the respective achievements. If you dont have them, the second option are the Council Guard Greaves from the CM-dungeon.
In the third picture i used the Ornate Guild Greaves which is a very cool skin, but you need to get the recipe from a Guild which already unlocked the vendor for it.
And finally the last picture is with the Draconic Legs and the Arborist Boots.

I hope you like some thoughts and i hope you can effort the skins ^^

I liked the idea and skins you showed and I'll try to get those skins and play with them.
Thanks :)
