The Phoenix Prince

Reborn from the ashes and chaos of the recent catastrophe at Bloodstone Fen, Kaelthas Solstrider awakens with death's blessing.

Once a passionate and eccentric pleasure seeker at the royal court of Summerstone isles, he now seeks out atonement for his sins by acting as a vessel for the great phoenix spirit, the original source of flame and warmth in Tyria.

Solstrider was sent as an emissary to Bloodstone fen weeks before the catastrophe. The locals adored his lighthearted nature and the local women swooned all over his charismatic radiance.

During his expedition to Bloodstone Fen, Kael was a frequent of the forbidden nymphic forest hidden deep within the maguuma jungle. Here he was able to explore and act upon his interest and curiosity for the dark arts like never before.

One night, as he pondered the summer of debauchery and mastery in his thoughts -- he sees a great light from afar. The darkness was soon enveloped by a great light. And as he tried to understand the reason for this, he was incinerated within seconds of this baffling thought.

Kael's legend begins in death. For deep within the ashes of hell, he befriends the soul of the great phoenix. As they conversed for weeks on end in a seemingly eternal conversation, the Phoenix brings him a vision of a primordial fire -- Tyria ablaze and in ruins. Horrified, Kael asks how this could be prevented. The phoenix, ashamed of what he has done, shares to Kael that it is he who gave power to Primordus and it is only the Phoenix's fire that has the ability to extinguish the dragon.

Unfortunately, the phoenix cannot materialize into the physical world anymore. For only his spirit remained after being destroyed by Primordus. As such, he would have to infuse himself into the soul of one that is good of heart but to do so would mean that soul would be destroyed for all eternity once the task at hand is accomplished. The phoenix laughed in amusement as he explained that "It's impossible to find anyone who's good of heart within the depths of hell -- and even more impossible to find someone willing to have their soul incinerated for all of eternity."

And as the Phoenix explained his predicament to Kael, Sunstrider suddenly rushes toward and leaps into the Phoenix, binding his soul with the eternal fire until they achieve their task at hand.

"Are you mad?!?! Your consciousness will be lost forever" The Phoenix exclaimed. Kael with his shrug look answers: "Yes. Yes, I am."

Darkness enveloped the light of the Phoenix and within a blink of an eye, Kael awakes to a Bloodstone Fen left in ruins. Yet to him, it was a world full of hope. A flame had been reborn from a rift and Primordus could feel its radiating defiance.
