It was a perfect night. For Mary Ann Wilkinson the crystal clear sky almost made it seem like there was no boundary between her and the far away stars. Perched on top a small hill dubbed Birch Hill although there were no birch tree around. She reflected back at what she had accomplished thus far, the choices she had made in her life up to now. She considered herself lucky to have been capable of deciding what she wanted to do early in her existence. At the young age of twenty-four she had already mastered advanced mathematics, astronomy and was now knee-deep in history, archaeology and weapon design and fabrication. At barely 5 feet Mary Ann never let her miniature frame keep her from doing the things she liked and she is still a little girl at heart, donning her double ponytails and carrying her belongings in her charr plush backpack.

Mary Ann is one of my oldest Guild Wars 2 character, dating back early september 2012. Right from the start I knew I wanted to turn her into a steampunk engineer and managed to find her armor style and dye choice quite rapidly. The only two additions that came later on are the Tybalt backpack and the Adventurer's Spectacles, the latter being the closest I could find that resembled soldering goggles. Going for deep brown, brass and dark green colors was a natural choice for a steampunk style but I chose not to show shoulder armor because in Mary Ann's case I don't think it added anything to the overall look.

Very simple and clean medium look, I like it!
The goggles add a very engineer-y touch and the dye scheme is superb! At first I wanted to be bothered by the bright yellow in there, but it is actually a nice highlight and it plays off well with the browns and greens
I support your choice to not show the shoulders, as the top part of this coat already looks really polished; the backpiece doesn´t really fit in for me, but colourwise it doesn´t feel so off that I could be really bothered by it
I love your screens and I wouldn´t complain if you added some more ^^
Take my gold!

I love the armor combo. Your description really helps me understand why you chose that backpack as it otherwise maybe wouldn't have fit in. The dyes fit the fabric wonderfully and really pop in that screenshot with the fire. The only part I'm unsure of is the goggles. They look a bit silly and aviator-like while the rest of the armor has this awesome serious leather quality to it. Overall a great realistic look and such a cute character you made. Love nerdy cute chicks :D ~ gold

Thanks for the link. To be honest, I've seen several other players with the same armor/dye combination since 2012.

I really like this look. It's very natural and the armour itself looks pretty neat. I especially like the glasses and the top piece you used!
Usually I am bothered if others are not using any shoulders but here it doesn't bother me at all and your character still looks very neat without the shoulders. The dyescheme is very nice, as well! I love those natural dark colours and the dashes of a bright yellowish tone are in my oppinion a very nice addition!
Your screens are very beautiful and well done and I would love to see some more.
Overall that's some easy Gold for you!
